Unconventional Music Videos

After me and my partner looked at conventional Alternative music videos in our RMA research, we found that we wanted to appeal to a much more niche audience and also make our own authentic music video. We found a few unconventional music videos which we gained inspiration from.

1.) Wolf Alice- Germ

The way this music video is shown, is like a film and we thought that this was really creative and cool. Also the setting is quite authentic and coordinates well with the colours. 

2.) Hippo Campus- Violet

The colours and simple yet modern backdrops created an authentic style within their music video. The use of colour really brought the focus on the band members in the video. Although, the video is very simple with their use of props and backdrops, this keeps the audience engaged as well as making it stylish and modern. 

3.) Haley Blais- Mine

The use of animation, is creative yet simple to portray the meaning behind the lyrics which also connects with the audience.

4.) Fidlar- 40oz. On Repeat

The use of props and DIY Settings portrays the alternative band as more realistic and authentic. We can also see the props as also creating humour within the video, which we thought was quite fun.

5.) Rat Boy- Move

The use of stop motion animation, can be seen as very unconventional and this really engages the audience. We also saw the use of humour which made the video more likeable.
