Draft One

Draft one- Audience Feedback

‘I really like the opening of your music video, this grabs the audience’s attention. I like the creative use of the peach, maybe speeding up the section where the peach is being sliced open, would make the shot snappier and more humorous.’

‘I like your use of lighting towards the end of the video, it really makes the video more climactic’

‘I love the creative concept of the video and how you link to the lyrics in such a unique way, with the use of the peach, maybe you could add more creative shots which link with the lyrics.’

‘The playing of the acoustic guitar is professional and authentic. However, the other guitarist’s playing, can bring the whole performance down and I think maybe you could remove most of the shots which he stars in, playing the electric guitar.’

‘I really like the use of the blurred background of the guitar shots and the peach this makes the video look really professional, maybe you can add more of a variety of guitar shots.’

‘I like how the shots have been developed from the story board with some variation in footage and in post-production.’

  • 'I like the quick succession of shots at the very beginning, this is really engaging and makes the beginning interesting.'
  • 'I enjoy the comical elements of this draft, like the clock being smashed and the peach being sliced.'
  • 'Maybe shorten how long the bass guitarist is eating the peach for, to add a variety of shots and to reduce the unnecessary length of shots.'
  • 'I really liked the use of the different contrasts of lighting such as the red lighting towards the end.'
  • 'Maybe use different shots of the drummer, I like the close ups of the main guitarist and the blurred background.'

Response:

  • I really liked the comical element within our music video and from our responses, our audience did to, and to increase this I used speed duration to further elevate the speed of the shot with the peach being sliced and the attempt of cleaning the sparkly blood. The use of speed duration emphasises the comical element of panic when the singer is attempting to wipe up the sparkly blood coming from the peach. This represents the peach as a broken heart and the subtle dark symbolism represented though the humour.
  • We decided to capture varied angles of the performance to keep our audience focused, we also removed the repetition of similar performance shots and filmed in different areas. We also experimented with contrasting ideas by filming various objects smashing, which we could intertwine with the lyrics.
